$100k in Drugs, $80k in Cash Seized after Knox Raid Targets 4 Michigan Men
A six-month investigation culminated Tuesday morning when Knox County authorities searched a home, seized more than $180,000 in drugs and cash and arrested four Michigan men — but not before one of them jumped out a window.
Knox County Sheriff's Office investigators searched the home at 615 Burns Road in Northeast Knoxville and seized $80,000 in cash, more than $100,000 in drugs and three guns, KCSO Chief of Administration Lee Tramel announced at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
As a SWAT team entered the house, one of the men, Andrew Lockhart VI, "chose to dive out the second-floor window," Tramel said, "and that didn't go so well for Mr. Lockhart." He was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The other three men — Darius Attles, Roy Washington and Robert Mapp — were taken to the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
All four men face the following charges: sale and delivery of Schedule II and Schedule VI drugs, possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, and maintaining a dwelling where drugs are used and sold.
Tramel, who's currently running for Knox County sheriff, said the men were part of a pipeline bringing "poison" from Michigan "to our community." The drugs seized Tuesday included several types of pain pills and marijuana.
Interstate 75 "leaves from Detroit, comes right through Knoxville, Tennessee, and ends in Florida," Tramel said. "That is a courier route. With the obvious appetite that some people have for this, it's supply and demand.
"We certainly don't mind people from Michigan coming to Knoxville, but if you're going to come, leave your drugs at home."
