Arkansas Man Busted with $1 Million in Heroin Destined for Sale in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Metro Police Nashville have seized over $1 million worth of heroin during a joint investigation.

Police say the drugs were intercepted after stopping the driver and passenger identified as 25-year-old Roberto Hernandez on I-40 Wednesday. After stopping the Dodge Charger, K-9 officer 'Boston' sniffed the car and indicated a drug odor was present.

Police say the Arkansas resident had a fire extinguisher concealed in his bag in the car which appeared to be tampered with. After dismantling the extinguisher, police found 16.8 pounds of heroin inside.

Hernandez claimed he was asked to bring the extinguisher to Nashville in exchange for a job. He was arrested on charges of heroin possession for resale and is being held on $250,000 bond.

The DEA, TBI, and Metro Police assisted in the arrest as part of a continuing investigation.
