Blount Woman Charged with Possessing Heroin, Intending to Sell, in Maryville Park

A Walland woman has been charged with possession of heroin, with intent to resell, in a drug-free zone.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said an investigator with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force charged Sarah Lynn Richter, 32, of Husky Ridge Road with possession of drugs after sheriff's deputies found heroin and methamphetamine in her vehicle.

The deputies were responding to a report of "suspicious activity" at Amerine Park on Amerine Road when they approached the silver Toyota sedan in which Richter was sitting. Richter gave deputies permission to search the vehicle, whereupon they found a box containing 1.8 grams of black tar and powder heroin, .1 grams of crystal meth, and drug paraphernalia.

Richter is being held on a $20,000 bond pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. May 23.

Richter has two convictions in Knox County: one in 2016 for possession of drug paraphernalia, which included a small amount of crystal meth; another in 2017 for criminal impersonation, for providing a false name and date of birth after officers observed her using drugs and possessing paraphernalia in a car at West Town Mall.
