SO, HOW BAD IS THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC IN TENNESSEE? Here are some new sobering numbers: Tennessee ranks No. 1 in the country in terms of opioid sales per capita by state. In 2017, Tennessee averaged 44.3 kilograms of opioid sales per 100,000 people. This is nearly double the national average of 24.4 kg per 100,000 people. WOW!
