Anderson County Nurse Indicted on Prescription Fraud Charges
This week, an Anderson County nurse practitioner was indicted on eight counts of prescription drug fraud.
In February 2017, the Knoxville Police Department tipped off the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation about allegations that Tonia Renee Suttles, 46, of Clinton, was illegally obtaining controlled substances, according to a news release from the TBI. The agency opened an investigation that led to her indictment by an Anderson County grand jury. TBI said Suttles used her position to get prescription drugs over a two-year period while she was working at two East Tennessee medical practices. On Thursday, Suttles was arrested and booked into the Anderson County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
